Defensive Offensive...

When we make mistakes, our default reaction is to deny it and distance ourselves from the mistake we've made. We seem to take a very defensive position and do everything in our power to deny it and argue as long as we can to safeguard against being held accountable!
Why so? It's much easier to accept and move on trying to find a solution instead of aggressively denying everything...and of course much more efficient. We don't see it that ways though, I wonder why.
I ain't a saint either and have been guilty of the same on several occasions. It isn't disturbing to find out that I have been guilty of it, it's disturbing to realise, it took me so long to understand I shouldn't be doing it!

To be defensive is most natural..
To accept would be the easiest but then there wouldn't be any fights or misunderstandings !

I completely agree with you but being defensive is something which we do unknowingly and that is the reason why it takes time to realize that its easy to face the situation and find a solution out and move on :)

@Ria:> Hehe...that's one way of looking at it...on the flipside though, it's pretty poor by the standards I set for myself!

@Kriti:> Which what we should strive for, shouldn't we? Why be defensive?

@Chandrika:> Yup...but I dunno whether it's about it being 'difficult' to accept our mistakes or whether it's about our absolute 'refusal' to own up to them!

@Satyu:> No it's not unknowingly...it's with the complete understanding of the fact that if we do indeed accept our mistakes, we're gonna be rebutted for them! It's a vicious circle really...forgiveness doesn't come easily to us and the thought of the trauma of being unforgiven probably leads us to being defensive...
