Love maybe beautiful but it's over-rated
The best affairs are always the ones that are ill-fated
While it lasts, you walk with a deluded smile, feeling elated
And forget, with perilous consequences, everything in life, is post-dated

Then fate strikes, to overturn your apple cart
The ones you thought you'd grow old with, pack their bags and depart
In their wake, you learn to grow up, stronger in the pain of being apart
And all you're left with, are bygone memories to cherish and the task of nursing your broken heart

"stronger in the pain of being apart"
~rightly said. Fate overturned my apple cart too.. but made sure someone helped me pick them all up, one by one, and build a new cart.

And now, I am stronger.. in the pain of being apart. Thanks for such a beautiful poem.

I see you have a lot of 'time' related phrases in your poetry.. like in this one, you talk about post-dated consequences.. looks like you understand the concept of time deeper than the rest of us.

@Punam:> Au contraire, I dont understand the concept of time at all. I think it is an absurd concept and makes life abstract. If we didn't measure everything wrt time, we'd be able to understand life so much better right?
Or perhaps, its a mere manifestation of the refusal to grow up and let go of the past...and the paranoia of facing an unknown, unsure future!

Aah nicely written...this seems to be inspired from personal experience. One cant fall in love unless u let go of the past.

@Ria:> Ah partly...but was actually a response to this
Just a counter view!
